Walt Minnick votes for consumer protection act

Idaho Democratic Party chairman R. Keith Roark today thanked Congressman Walt Minnick for his support for the Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2009.

"This is the most progressive, significant piece of financial regulation reform in over 60 years," Roark added. "For those who say that they see no difference between Walt Minnick and Bill Sali, I hasten to point out that, while each of us is entitled to disagree with Walt on any given issue, his vote on this critical piece of legislation alone underscores the importance of re-electing Walt Minnick in 2010."

Minnick told reporters after the vote, "One of the reasons the people of Idaho gave me an opportunity to serve in Congress is because they thought my 35 years of business experience might prove useful in helping move our country in the right direction. I am pleased to have helped craft this bill, and I am confident that it will not only level the playing field, but end the kinds of 'rigged games’ that allowed an unscrupulous few to ruin our economy.”
